The scoop on Candles
A candle is a light source usually consisting of an internal wick that rises through the center of a column of solid fuel. In Overall, the fuel is in some sort of wax is the most common. Use
Before the domestication of electricity, candles were a common source of lighting, front and later on the other hand, the oil lamp. Due to the availability and the cost of local resources for several centuries until the 19th century candles were more common in northern Europe, and olive oil lamps more common in southern Europe and the Mediterranean. Manufacturers of candles were known as utility companies. Today, candles are usually used for its aesthetic value, especially a gentle heat, heat, or romantic, and emergency lighting in case of power failure. Aromatic candles are common in aromatherapy. Small Candles are often placed on the birthday cakes.

Candles are used in religious ceremonies.
Christianity
In Christianity usually represent the light of Jesus, and often are placed on the altar. Candles can be lit as an accompaniment to prayer. The candles are lit by the faithful to icons in the Orthodox churches and others.
Candlemas marks the end of the season of Epiphany.
The candles were traditionally used to light trees Christmas before the advent of electricity. They remain, even today, commonly used to decorate Christmas trees in Denmark and other European countries. They also is used in Advent wreaths. In Sweden (and other Scandinavian countries), Santa Lucia is celebrated on December 13 crowning of a young man with a ring of candles.
Judaism
In Judaism, candles are traditionally lit on Friday night at the beginning the celebration of the weekly Sabbath. The Jewish feast of Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is celebrated by lighting a candle in a special candelabrum (menorah) each night during the holiday week to commemorate the dedication the altar in the Temple of Jerusalem.

Kwanzaa
Candles are also used in celebrations of Kwanzaa, an African-American festival, which runs from December 26 to January 1.
