How does your decorating taste relate to your partner’s and to your ideas about gender?
Do you decide together or does one of you make most of the decisions? What style do you prefer? And do you see your style as more masculine or feminine?
I tend to Mid-century Modern mixed with Spanish and English colonial with a Japanese influence here and there. I think the result is fairly genderless and it actually meshes surprisingly well.
My fiancee likes Tuscan and French country (which actually strikes me as somewhat feminine) but he pretty much says its up to me so long as things aren’t TOO geometric and modernist
My style is a mix of vintage, quirky, gothic, futuristic and art nouveau. Think Tim Burton + Antonio Gaudi + mad scientist lab + quaint Scottish cottage + a lot lot lot of color. I have thing for color. I don’t have to think about color, I just do it… I use a crap load of colors for everything. I’m not as over the top as I sound, but I would be if I had the money for it. If I had a mansion it would be pretty eccentric.
Idk about a partner, most men don’t have a strong opinion on this unless they have a art/design background, I think. They want to live someplace comfortable and nice looking though. And I think they prefer simplicity and modernism. (Maybe I am just being stereotypical though?) The less knick knacks, less distractions, less junk, the better. I imagine that very few men are into that “shabby chic” style for example.
