Little Things About Gifts
By Wikipedia, a gift or present is the transfer of something, without the need for compensation that is involved in trade. When you make a gift to someone, you don’t require anything in return, even though it involves possibly a social expectation of reciprocity, or a return in the form of prestige or power.
Making gifts is an extraordinary experience. Every once in a while, our loved ones give us presents, and we make them gifts to. When offering a gift, one usually feels joy and happiness for the other person. The other is mainly enthusiastic, anxious to receive it.
Making gifts differs from country to country. In Chinese culture, red wrapping connotes luck, while in Western culture, gifts are often wrapped in wrapping paper and accompanied by a gift note which may note the occasion and the 2 parties. In Germany for example, it is a very nice custom to give children (but not only children, of course) something called an “Adventskalender”. It is a sort of calendar which covers the time from the 1st December to the 24th December (the Germans, and most Europeans, exchange presents on the evening of the 24th). Each culture has its own moments when one can give presents to the loved ones.
Also, it matters a lot if the gift is made by your hands or bought. You can congratulate or surprise someone special by giving him a homemade gift. When making a homemade gift for a loved one that you really want to surprise, you can learn a new skill if possible and when the 25 December dawns, they will be really surprised. How about playing guitar, in the morning, cooking breakfast or reciting poem? I’m pretty sure he/she would be impressed.
If you don’t know the person very well, an inspired gift would be something related to house objects like the ones used for kitchen or bathroom décor, candles, bath and body gift sets and so on.
